Polaris® GEM Vehicle Application Packages Win 2018 New Product Award from College Planning & Management
Minneapolis, October 23, 2018 – Polaris® Commercial announces that its GEM electric vehicle application packages have been recognized as a 2018 New Product Award Winner by College Planning & Management magazine. The award honors the outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers whose products or services are considered to be particularly noteworthy for their ability to enhance the learning environment. Polaris GEM vehicles are street legal and 100 percent plug-in electric to promote safety and sustainability across campuses nationwide.
“Research shows there is a direct correlation between quality learning environments and improved student success — and these companies are leading the charge to make schools a better place for teachers to teach and students to learn,” said Karen Cavallo, group publisher of College Planning & Management and School Planning & Management.
Winners in this year’s competition were selected by an independent panel of judges from the industry. The winner in the Outdoor Environment, Vehicles category, GEM vehicle application packages offer eight unique GEM models designed for various needs on campus: Maintenance and Repair, Construction, Technician, Delivery, Shuttles and Tours, Public Safety, Housekeeping and Grounds. Each package provides distinctive features, cool weather add-ons for inclement conditions and is street legal and 100 percent electric to promote safety and sustainability across campuses.
“We listened to our customers who told us they wanted application-specific vehicles that enabled them to easily acquire mobility tools to perform their jobs and these GEM packages do just that,” said Tate Johnson, GEM business director at Polaris Industries. “We’re thrilled to win this award as it acknowledges our commitment to providing our customers with purpose-built, sustainable vehicles for the campus.”
For instance, the compact profile and approachable design of the GEM Public Safety Package maneuvers through tough crowds safely and responds to incidents quickly. The larger GEM Technician Package can transport oversized tools and materials while keeping important hardware protected from the elements. The most versatile GEM yet, the Maintenance and Repair package offers a spacious flatbed, overhead ladder rack and additional toolbox storage for the flexibility to get any job done.
Street legal, low-speed GEM vehicles have seen long-term success at colleges and universities. Polaris introduced the eight GEM vehicle application packages in mid-2018 to help higher education environments quickly acquire GEM vehicles built for specific campus jobs that are ready for use upon delivery.
